pigeonhole
A personal tool that sorts its owner's Gmail into labels and keeps the inbox short.
pigeonhole runs on a computer at its owner's home. It is used only by Jason Yang and a few family members and colleagues, each on their own Gmail or Google Workspace account and only after they authorize it themselves. It is not offered to the public.
What it does
- Reads the sender, recipients, subject and a short preview of new messages.
- Picks one label for each message, for example People, Security or Promotions, and adds that label in Gmail.
- Removes a message from the inbox (archives it) according to rules the account owner chose, for example after it has been read. Starred messages are never archived.
What it never does
- It never deletes messages, sends email, replies, or unsubscribes.
- It never changes whether a message is read or unread.
- It never sells, shares or advertises with anyone's data.
